finding a moment

Some days you just try too hard and other days you don’t try hard enough. Some days you are lost and others you are found. No matter what happens, on a daily basis snowboarding is to be found. The experience, the friendships, and the feeling are always sought after and coveted. Whenever we are at the mountain we seek to find an exact moment. It’s a moment that inspires us and drives us. It keeps us coming back to the hills each and every chance, trying to replicate that individual moment. These moments are what create the feeling. Everyone is out there seeking a different moment to create that feeling. Sometimes you will look all season for that moment and only find it once or twice but other times you will find it all day long. The other day we went looking for a moment. It’s a moment where your body is floating neither up nor down, but hanging in the air floating. For that one brief moment you are free. All you know is that moment. There is no real life happening at this exact moment. You don’t care about getting raped at the pump or that your dog took a shit on your bed. You know nothing but the feeling of that specific moment. You have found “IT”.
The day started like most and ended like most. I drank lots of coffee which led to lots of urinating. I marked up the mountain like my dog does the neighborhood. In between the coffee and the pissing, I drove to the mountain, picked up my friends JJ, Brando, and Natalie, met up with Ray Charles, rode fresh tracks, boot-packed, saw a raven, built a jump, got air, hot tubbed, saw a scorpion, reviewed, told jokes, told stories, liked turtles, farted in Ray’s face, emitted septic smells, actuated shutter, got older, wanted beer, got cold smoke, high fived, saw Euros, looked at trees, and made messy time. It was a good time spent with even better friends. Oh, and we did find that moment. It was rad!
